During the 1980s, CB radio was a popular hobby and communication tool for many people, especially truckers and other drivers who needed to communicate with each other on the road. The CB radio craze also spawned a wide range of accessories, from antennas and microphones to signal boosters and frequency scanners.

The October 1981 issue of CB Radio Magazine may have included articles about the latest CB radio equipment and accessories, such as new radios from popular brands like Cobra and Midland, as well as reviews of aftermarket products like linear amplifiers and SWR meters.
