Founded 1995 · Preston, Lancashire, England
Allan, a CB radio operator in England, had been on the air for a couple of years when, in the early part of 1995, he decided to form his own radio group. He chose the callsign 26 DT 001 (DT for Delta Tango). The group is now known as the Delta Tango International DX Group; Allan’s current unit is 153 DT 001.
Confirmed founding year: 1995. This follows the group’s official history page (“Our Office”). Secondary articles that cited 1993 or other years were incorrect and have been corrected here for consistency.
Members joined through contacts on the air and by word of mouth. Allan introduced the motto that still defines the group:
“It’s Good to Talk”
“Delta Tango” comes from the phonetic alphabet (D and T). Unit numbers are assigned by HQ (for example 26 DT 001 for a UK-style prefix at the time of issue). A DT unit number is a club identifier only. It does not replace any national radio licence or authorisation required by law in your country.
